On the LGA Tour?

Like many of you, SPicy loves golf.

From spending time on the driving range, watching tournaments on TV, visiting some of Minnesota's best courses, and keeping an eye on up and coming players.  And to SPicy's surprise – there is a new name to add to the list.

Saint Paul Mayor Chris Coleman

It seems that Mayor Coleman has entered Minnesota's political "Q School." But instead of trying to qualify for a spot on the PGA tour, it seems that Chris is trying to earn a spot on the "Long-shot Gubernatorial Ambition tour. The LGA – not to be confused with local government aid (which Saint Paul can never seem to find) – is the first step for people anxious for higher office.

One of the first stops on the LGA tour is the annual Tom Rukavina event.  This is when the Iron Rangers and union activists test a player's ability to hit fairways, stick approach shots, and see if their ambition can handle the pressure.  SPicy hasn't been able to see posted scores, but we have heard the Mayor is moving on to the next stop.

SPicy will try to make it State Senator Tom Bak's annual golf even in August to take in the experience.  No word on who the the Mayor will choose to be his caddy.  With such a dynamic team to pick from, SPicy would look forward to seeing Ellen Anderson, Sandy Pappas or even Dick Cohen carry Mayor Coleman's clubs.

Right now the LGA is not scheduled to make a stop here in our little town.  One would think Phalen, Highland National, or Como would be a nice place for the Mayor to show off his mayoral skills in front of political king makers.

Such is life on the LGA – keep looking for the next tee time before someone has a chance to look at the scorecard from the home course.
